sfdcode
Desktop application

SFD unlock on the workshop PC — without extra browser tabs.

Sign in with your sfdcode account, enter the ECU address and offline challenge from your scan tool, and get the SFD1 unlock token with QR and copy. Paste the result back into VCDS or your diagnostic software yourself — the app does not connect to the vehicle.

Access

  • Free for everyone with a sfdcode account — sign in after install to use your prepaid unlock credits. Buy unlock tokens
  • ~58 MB download · ~120 MB installed. Optional helper for the workshop PC — buying tokens and unlocking in the browser works without installing.
  • Windows 10 or 11 Pro, Enterprise, Education, or IoT Enterprise (Work). Windows Home, 32-bit PCs, and builds before version 1903 are not supported.
  • 1 prepaid token debited per successful SFD1 unlock — same balance as the member panel. SFD2 is not available in the desktop app.

Amounts exclude VAT unless stated at checkout.

The installer is locked and digitally signed — we're on the final test pass. Want a ping when downloads open? Write to [email protected].

What makes it practical

Order the SFD token on the PC — paste it in your scan tool.

The desktop app is not a diagnostic interface. It forwards your offline challenge to sfdcode, shows the unlock reply, and keeps recent jobs on the PC so you can copy the hex or QR into VCDS, ODIS, or whatever you already use.

  • SFD1 only

Enter module address + offline challenge — the unlock token returns in seconds and debits 1 prepaid credit.

  • No SFD2

SFD2 is not supported in this app. Request SFD2 tokens through the web panel and paste them manually.

  • History

Recent unlocks stay in a local history list with copy and QR — nothing is written to the car from here.

Live preview

Three screens — sign in, calculate, copy the token.

Preview of the shipping UI: member sign-in, unlock form, and result with QR. No vehicle connection inside the app.

Preview only — wording and visuals may tighten before release.

Step 1

Use your sfdcode workshop email and password. The app loads your prepaid token balance from the server.

What it does

What the desktop client does

SFD1 unlock from prepaid credits

Same 1-token debit as the member panel — the app is a focused Windows client for shops that prefer a dedicated window on the workshop PC.

Offline challenge in, token out

Paste or QR-scan the challenge string, tap Calculate, and copy the authorised reply — no browser tab juggling.

Not a cable or J2534 tool

The app never talks to the vehicle. You keep using VCDS, ODIS, OBDeleven, or any tool you already own for the actual unlock step.

Local job history

Recent unlocks stay on the PC with copy and QR so you can recover a token without reopening the panel.

Online-only, member sign-in

Requires internet to api.sfdcode.com and a workshop account with available credits.

SFD2 stays on the web

Manual SFD2 delivery is not built into this app — use sfdcode.com for SFD2 orders.

System requirements

Modern WinUI stack — plan disk space, runtimes, and a supported Windows Work edition.

Windows
Windows 10 or 11 Pro, Enterprise, Education, or IoT Enterprise (1809+) — Work editions. Not supported: Home, 32-bit, builds before 1809.
PC type
64-bit Intel / AMD processors today · ARM notebooks planned later in 2026
Runtimes
Framework-dependent MSIX — .NET 8 Desktop Runtime (x64) and Windows App SDK 1.8 must be installed separately (links below).
Disk space
About 120 MB installed · signed MSIX download ~58 MB (plus runtime disk if not already present)
Memory use
~80 MB when idle · up to roughly 150 MB during token calculation
Internet
Normal outgoing web traffic to api.sfdcode.com (standard HTTPS port) · nothing needs to punch holes in your firewall for inbound traffic
Drivers
Install the companion software shipped with whichever cable/interface you rely on.
Updates
Patches download automatically as small signed bundles — approve like any trustworthy desktop app.

Required runtimes (install before first launch)

The MSIX is framework-dependent. Install both runtimes on the workshop PC before or during first launch.

Order the SFD token on the PC — paste it in your scan tool.
